Round Top Drive, or more popularly known as Tantalus Lookout is one of Oahu's best lookouts over the city of Honolulu. It is full of tons of cool hidden spots like this treehouse, swings, awesome viewpoints, hikes, and a neighborhood! It is Rashawn and I's favorite spot on Oahu, we come here all the time at all hours of the day. 

My friend Rachelle is the one who introduced us to the treehouse and I can't thank her enough! It is super easy to get too also! I am not going to disclose the location to keep it private but feel free to message me and ask if your looking! 

It has easily become one of my favorite spots here! Although very frightening to get on and off of, the view is so worth it. It's like the spot was meant for a treehouse becuase the trees are perfectly surrounding an amazing view of Honolulu. 

You can see our school, Waikiki, Diamond Head and more from here. Plus you will probably be alone so it's just a really special spot. I think thats what makes the Tantalus treehouse so remarkable.

This is a spot Rashawn and I kind of just stumbled upon one day. I was so so excited becuase it was so cool! Right of the side of the road lies these two swings in the trees. Little did I know that there is actually an old myth here about these swings, so I probably won't be going back ha!

But we were celebrating our first day of school, and my last first day ever, so of course we go to our favorite spot to celebrate. We saw these swings on our drive up and pulled over to hang out for a bit. There weren't that many car passing by so it was nice to hear the trees and just relax. 

I was thankful the trees were strong enough for us. I am not positive, but I heard someone cut one of the swings down now which would be really sad. It is so important to be respectful of this island so we can all enjoy the special places for long time to come.

We frequent this view point a lot, both at night and day. It is super popular for sunset too! We have seen so many rainbows here too becuase it is not uncommon for it to rain back in the valley of Tantalus. It is the best spot to see a clear view of Waikiki and Diamond head, I could never get sick of it. I can;t imagine what it looked like before all of this was built. 

We came here for the first time one night with our friends Sophomore Year, and I feel like we have come at lest once a month sense then! It is a great spot to relax, talk, watch the clouds roll by and just enjoy some company!

Lastly Tantalus is a super popular hiking spot in the city. There are actually eighteen hikes here! You can see all of them in this PDF here, it will tell you how to get there and what to expect as well as the distance! We have only walked around a bit but I would love to do a few.

how to get here

 

Getting to Round Top Drive is fairly simple! You can easily type it into your GPS as Round Top Drive or Tantalus. But it will be accessed at Makiki St. and Round Top Drive. Once on the road, you will just keep driving! The lookout will be easily noticeable becuase there will be other care parked and a railing. For further details feel free to message me!

Always be mindful that you are in a neighborhood so if you are going late at night please do not be loud or disrupt those living here. If you bring trash always make sure to dispose of it properly and do not litter. There are areas not prohibited for public access, so please stay away from them.
