Walk The High Line New York City
exploring husdon yards
Let’s face it - New York is full of magical experiences and adventures that make you feel like you are on a movie set, or just living a double life! Walking the High Line to see Hudson Yards is a little bit of both!! Not only is the high line it’s self a must see and do while in the City, it now leads you to one of the coolest structures out East. So if exploring Chelsea, the high line, art galleries, and Hudson Yards wasn’t on your New York list before… it will be now!
take a walk on the high line
So what exactly is this high line I am talking about? The New York High Line is a historic public park throughout the suburb of Chelsea. It is built on old freight train rails, so it is an elevated park! [Basically coolest park ever]. You can access it via 13 different blocks. There is a staircase at each entrance and over 5 of them are handicap accessible. There is even public restrooms! Here is a link to the exact locations of entrances, handicap accessibilities, and restrooms. The entire length of the park/walk is 1.45 miles. If you want more detailed information and updates, you can download the High Line App on ios or android - here is the link! You can get on or off at any time - but my recommendation is walk to the very end to see Hudson Yards and the Vessel!

see the new hudson yard vessel
The new hype in the city is all about this bee hive! The Hudson Yards Vessel was a 10 year project and built to encourage people to climb and see new perspectives of the city. In all, you will have to brave over 2,500 steps to get around this thing! The best part is, you do not have to pay to participate!! The only catch is tickets need to be booked about two weeks in advanced because of demand and regulations of how many can be on at once. So make sure you book in advance! Tickets were ‘sold out’ when we got here but it is on my list for next time :)
where is it at?
Husdon Yards and the Vessel are located at the very end of the High Line so juts keep walking! On the chance you are not walking the high line and just are coming to see the Vessel + shops then check out their instructions on how to get here linked below!
While here, make sure to check out the Hudson Yards New Mall! The stores are sooo fancy, it is so beautiful, and soon an observation tower will be opened here! There are lots of cafes and small restaurants too!

visit the free art galleries
The neighborhood of Chelsea has so many amazing restaurants, shops and Art Galleries! My Brooklyn-nite friend always tells us the New York secrets and the art galleries was surly one of those secrets! All long the high line are FREE art galleries that you can just go explore! The exhibits are constantly changing featuring new and old artist. You can look online at locations of very famous galleries or artist, but we had fun just popping in and out of a few!
Here is a great article I found listing out the galleries with addresses + small descriptions! Also please be respectful of each galleries rules on noise, photos, and never touch any of the art.
