Pumpkin Carving
Carving With Aloha
Carving Pumpkins is one of my favorite things about Halloween and fall. Living in Hawaii I couldn't help my self but to carve my pumpkins from Aloun Farms on the beach!
For those who would like to know how to carve a pumpkin its super easy! Here is a great WikiHow but i'll give you a brief explantation too!
How to Carve a Pumpkin
Tools:
Knife (smaller the better for cutting detail and small shapes)
Scooper
Bowl for gunk and a bowl for seeds
Push pins if doing pre-set design
Tape
Here is a super great and cheep pumpkin carving kit you can find at your local grocery store!
Step One
Cut out the top of your pumpkin. Then its time to de-gunk! Use your hands to get all the seeds out and to scoop some pumpkin out. Go through with the scooper to get all the remaining 'gunk' out.
Step Two
Now that you have de-gunked you can start to carve! If you are just going for it for fun you can just start to cut and carve what ever you think looks best! Or if you have a pre-set design the best thing to do is tape the paper to the pumpkin and poke holes along the lines (to transfer picture onto pumpkin). Then you can use the knife and cut along the lines!
And thats the basics of it! There is no right way or wrong way to carve a pumpkin. You can make it your tradition how ever you choose!
Hawaiian Style Halloween!
Our pumpkins gladly sit on our new porch :)
Happy carving!
