California

The Golden State

California + Salt Water Vibes

This winter break Rashawn and I got to experience California Living! I have probably been to the state 10 times but this was the first trip I got to explore on my own and move around! We started in LA and went to San Francisco and ended in New Port Beach! It is so much fun to travel at this age, and especially with your best friend. Experiencing things together makes the trips more memorable and way more fun!

While we were in California we got to visit one of our friends from school who lives in Oakland, California. One of my best travel tips for young people is couch surfing! If you know people around the area you are going ask to crash there a few nights, nothing better than saving money on housing! We got to walk through Pier 39 and drive the Golden Gate Bridge plus so much more! All of the details in my Exploring the Bay Post!

Our friend and his dad are also season ticket holders for the Warriors and they just so happen to be playing the Denver Nuggets (my home team and Rashawns favorite) so we got super lucky! He was nice enough to give us the tickets for the night and it was such a fun game! Warriors fans are unlike any other I have been around!

After San Fransisco and the Bay, we went back into LA and got to explore Hollywood for the night with another friend from school. It was so fun to come back as an adult because when I came as a kid I was so obsessed with the stars and handprints I wanted to find everyone I knew! As an adult its fun to appreciate the stars as a whole and super fun to watch the people in Hollywood!

Then we went to New Port Beach and stayed there for a few days with one of Rashawn's friends from High School. He lives right on the beach and we came to the conclusion that there is no beaches like Hawaii beaches! California water is so cold and just not as inviting as the 808. But I am a happy girl near any water!

One of the highlights of my trip was going to Disneyland! It was so cool going back as an adult and makes you have such an appreciation for Disney! They go all out for the holidays and I was so happy I got to see the 60th year decorations. Disneyland really is the happiest place on earth no matter the weather or age! More information in my Disneyland post.

Another super cool thing we did on the trip was go to the Griffith Observatory. It was so amazing and I am already planning my next trip back. We got to see the sunset there and if I came to any conclusions it's that California is not called the Golden State by accident ;) The sunsets were out of this world!!

Finally for our last night we spent back in LA and got to walk around the staples center! It was very cool because the Lakers were playing the Thunder that night so we got to walk though all the pre-game activities and see the trophy! And of course no trip to California is complete without a stop to In-N-Out...ok maybe more then one :)
