Diamond Head

Popular Oahu Hike

The views from atop Diamond head are so BLUE! The amazing views of Waikiki from way up here are some of the best. It totally puts everything into perspective and if you are staying in a near by hotel, you just might be able to spot your room! Check out one of the most popular hikes on Oahu.

Ok so the hike feels like 8,000 stairs, but I promise you it's not! I tried to count but I could not keep track at all! I think I read some where that its 99 but I think its way more so next person to count leave it in the comments. The trail switches from paved concrete, to rocky concrete, to steps, to more steps! So wear some comfortable shoes, but tennis shoes aren't required if you are adventurous.

To get to the hike you have to enter the Diamond Head State Monument Park. If you take Uber, The Bus, or have a friend drop you off, the entry is just $1 per person. If you drive it will cost $5 to park but everyone in the car is covered! From the parking lot you will see crowds of people and the paved start of the trail head. It is open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm daily, last call to hike up is 4:30pm!

The steps are metal and concrete, and spiral depending on the spot! You can see all of the them in my video above!

Waikiki is unlike any other place in the world! Every city has that one street that everyone knows and goes to and Waikiki is that one for Oahu. It is bumping with every store imaginable and it's a quick walk to the beach.

You will get great 360 degrees views on this hike. It is so cool to see the houses built into the mountains for miles and then just a quick turn nothing but ocean. Who has island fever!? :) Bring lots of water and maybe a cereal bar or two for the top because you will absolutely work up a sweat on this trial.

Merely a suggestion ;)

Haha. But in all honestly only go off the beaten path if you are experienced with the area and know what your doing. A lot times people can get up and can't get down, so be careful!

Because Diamond head is one of the most popular hikes on Oahu you can expect the crowds! This hike is constantly full of people. Try and go early in the morning or last call to avoid the crowds.

Hiking on Oahu is one of the most popular activities because there are so many great hikes with amazing views. Diamond head is a popular hike becuase its an iconic staple of Oahu and has some of the best views in Honolulu.

Where are your favorite views!?
